MMI geochemistry is one of the most exciting technologies in the exploration sector, according to SGS. MMI is an advanced exploration technique for detecting deeply buried mineral deposits. It enables companies to significantly reduce exploration costs by precisely delineating anomalies and defining better targets for drill programs. MMI anomalies have better spatial and amplitude resolution than those observed using conventional geochemistry, and therefore provide a more precise location of primary mineralization. MMI responses are not displaced, and do not form 'negative anomalies'. MMI geochemistry is being successfully used to locate gold, base metal and nickel mineralization and kimberlites around the world.
MMI geochemistry is currently performed at SGS labs in Australia and Canada, but will be expanded across the entire SGS network over the next 24 months. In the interim, samples can be routed to Toronto or Perth from any one of over 40 commercial geochemistry labs in SGS's unmatched network.
