MINING PEOPLE: Canada Cobalt, Colonial Coal, Great Bear, Goldsource, and NorZinc

Canada Cobalt Works, based in Coquitlam, B.C., has named Matt Halliday its new VP exploration, effective in mid-December. A graduate of Dalhousie University, he is currently working for Kirkland Lake Gold. Calum Morrison is joining Great Bear Resources as its VP corporate development. With over 15 years of experience in the mining industry, he has led negotiations on numerous transactions with a total value in excess of $5 billion. Morrison was recently a member of Teck Resources’ corporate development team. Several companies have recently invited industry experts to join their boards of directors. Here is a short list: Partha S. Bhattacharyya to Vancouver-based Colonial Coal International, Drew Anwyll to Vancouver’s Goldsource Mines, and Gary Sugar and Stephen Flewelling to NorZinc Ltd., also headquartered in Vancouver.
