OTTAWA – The Diamond Development Initiative has chosen Ian Rowe as its new executive director, effective Sept. 2, 2019. He has been the association’s deputy executive director since September 2018. He will replace Dorothee Gizenga, the organization’s founding executive director. She is taking on a new role as regional director to lead DDI’s expansion in Africa. She will be based in Kinshasa, DRC. Rowe has more than two decades of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean experience working for civil society organizations and United Nations agencies. He holds a BA in French and Spanish from Carleton University and a masters degree in international conflict analysis from the University of Kent. Established in 2007, the DDI is a non-profit organization with a mandate to transform artisanal diamond mining. Learn more about the work of the DDI at www.DDIglobal.org.
