(Image: CIM)[/caption] SASKATOON -  The team from the University of British Columbia has won the World Mining Competition held Oct. 25-28 in this city. The World Mining Competition is an opportunity for students from all backgrounds to showcase their strategic analytical abilities to some of the most prominent minds in the mining industry. Teams from Canada, the United States, Germany, Chile and the United Kingdom put their critical thinking skills – financial, engineering, geology and sustainability – to work on a fictitious mining company. The case gave a detailed background, outlined the opportunities and challenges, and offered discipline specific information.
