TMAC Resources is reporting bonanza grades from this year’s drilling at the Hope Bay gold project 65 km east of Bathurst Inlet. Work was conducted at both the Doris North and Madrid North deposits.
Here are the highlights from the at Doris North BTD extension:
- Hole TM500148 – 261.4 g/t gold (capped at 18.5 g/t) over 7.1 metres, including 2,710 g/t (capped at 100 g/t) over 0.66 metre, and 6.6 g/t gold over 10.4 metres.
- Hole TM500152 – 71.8 g/t gold over 1.4 metres, and 1,255 g/t (capped at 100 g/t) over 1.5 metres, and 5.4 g/t over 8.0 metres.
Here are the highlights from the Naatok West zone at Madrid North:
- Hole TM00375 – 11.5 g/t gold over 25.1 metres, including 18.1 g/t over 14.0 metres, and 12.9 g/t over 50.0 metres, including 60.1 g/t over 8.5 metres.
The grades are extremely promising, but TMAC has had recovery problems in the past. Now with a Falcon SB400 installed in the primary grinding circuit of the North concentrator line (CL1), the company can report improved plant performance in May. Gold recovery has increased to 83%, up from 76% in April and 71% in the first quarter. The mill treated 28,900 tonnes at a head grade of 12.7 g/t gold, producing 9,850 oz. in May.
The South concentrator line (CL2) was wet commissioned at the end of May with rock introduced on June 3. This line incorporates all the modifications made to CL1, including a Falcon SB400 as original equipment. Start-up has been smoother than with the first line, and when slurry from the two lines is combined for further treatment, the mill should have a daily throughput of 2,000 tonnes.
