GOLD: McEwen includes base metals in Black Fox resource for first time

(Image: McEwen Mining)[/caption] ONTARIO – For the first time, Toronto-based McEwen Mining has included numbers for base metals in the resources of its Black Fox complex in Matheson. The complex includes the Black Fox gold mine as well as the Tamarack, Gibson-Grey Fox, Froome and Stock zones. The base metal numbers refer to mineralization in the Tamarack zone. Using a 3 g/t gold equivalent cut-off, the zone has 778,000 indicated tonnes grading 1.83 g/t gold, 26 g/t silver, 1.08% lead, and 3.29% zinc. Contained metals total 46,000 oz. of gold, 663,000 oz. of silver, 8,000 tonnes of lead, and 26,000 tonnes of zinc. An underground mine is proposed. The Tamarack deposit is centred on north-south striking quartz breccia. The zone is characterized by an Upper and Lower lens. The Upper lens reaches 300 metres along strike and from nearly the surface to 450 metres. The Lower lens measures about 200  metres along strike and 250 metres down dip from a depth of 500 metres, and it is open at depth. Minor, narrow and discontinuous diabase dikes separate the lenses. Metallurgical tests are currently underway on core samples from the Tamarack zone as surface and underground drilling continues to define possible strike and dip extensions.
