QUEBEC – Toronto-based Eastmain Resources has updated the resource estimate for its Eastmain gold project in the Otish Mountains. The property produced 40,000 oz. of gold in 1995 when a bulk sample was mined.. [caption id="attachment_1003721551" align="alignleft" width="331"] The 50-person camp at the Eastmain gold project. (Image: Eastmain Resources)[/caption] The new resource numbers include historic estimates plus the results of 26 additional diamond drill holes. There are 899,000 indicated tonnes grading 8.19 g/t gold for 236,500 oz. and 579,000 tonnes grading 7.48 g/t gold for 239,300 oz. The verification drill program returned grades such as  23.1 g/t over 4.4 metres, 12.9 g/t over 7.0 metres, 17.0 g/t over 3.0 metres and 14.7 g/t over 2.0 metres. Eastmain president and CEO Claude Lemasson said in a release, "The game changer for the Eastmain mine project was the construction of the new road (Route 167 Nord) under Quebec's Plan Nord about three years ago, providing all-season access to our property. With additional verification drill holes, we are confident that we will be able to convert more inferred mineral resources to the indicated mineral resource category." The company also says the is opportunity exists to grow the resources at the Julien discovery about 600 metres to the northwest of the A zone. There is additional exploration potential along the mine trend. More information about Eastmain’s plans are available at www.Eastmain.com.
