MONTREAL – The
Quebec Mineral Exploration Association announced the winners of its annual recognition awards at the recent Explor! Conference, held Oct. 17-19, 2017.
The Discovery of the Year award went to
Osisko Mining for the Lynx gold deposit project.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award was given to
Nemaska Lithium.
Abitibi Geophysics was recognized as Service Company of the Year.
The Excellence in Sustainable Development award went to
Goldcorp for its new Eleonore gold mine.
Jean Laforest was given the Nicolas-Denys Medal in recognition of his many years of hard work as a prospector that contributed to the development of prospecting and mineral exploration in Quebec.
The 2017 Hector-Authier award went to
Paul Archer for his many years of hard work that contributed to the development of mining entrepreneurship in Quebec.
Sylvain Trepanier won the Jean-Descarreaux award for his writings have helped broaden geoscience knowledge related to mineral exploration, thereby boosting exploration activities.
The Leadership in Economic Contribution to Mineral Exploration award went to
Andre Gaumond for his work in the business, finance, and/or legal.
The new QMEA board was also introduced (see photo).
