VANCOUVER – Lucara Diamond Corp. has finally sold the 1,109-carat Lesedi La Rona diamond for US$53 million (US$47,777 per carat) to Graff Diamonds. The company tried to auction the stone in June 2016, but offers did not reach the reserve price of US$70  million. Instead they stopped at US$61 million. This is the second largest gem quality diamond ever discovered; and it is certainly the largest existing uncut diamond. Graff Diamonds mines, cuts, polishes, sets and sells diamonds.
