BRITISH COLUMBIA –
Golden Dawn Minerals has received the permits and is making plans to dewater the former Lexington gold-silver mine near Greenwood. Dewatering is expected to take about four weeks and be followed by evaluation and test mining.
As the underground workings become accessible, the rehabilitation of the two existing ramps and surface mine infrastructure will take place. Ground support, electric systems and ventilation will also be re-established. Definition drilling mapping and sampling are planned ahead of test mining.
Golden Dawn said that test mining will target mineralized zones between the 1,210- and 1,175-metre elevations. Longhole open stoping, jumbo mining, and jackleg-slushing mining will be evaluated. The material will be processed at the 200-t/d Greenwood mill 17 km from the mine. The mill includes a gravity circuit, flotation plant and assay laboratory. Rehabilitation should be completed in mid-November.
The Lexington-Grenoble deposit upon which the mine is based contains 372,000 measured and indicated tonnes grading 6.47 g/t gold and 1.05% copper. There are also 12,000 inferred tonnes at 4.42 g/t gold and 1.03% copper.
