Kirkland Lake Gold has an active exploration program near Matheson, and it is turning up even more high grade intersections east of the Taylor mine. KLGold says the drilling that it did east of the Shaft deposit highlights the potential for near term resource growth close to existing infrastructure.
The latest drill results cover 15 holes over 12,155 metres of surface drilling and 14 underground holes totaling 2,500 metres.
Highlights from the surface holes east of the Shaft deposit include:
- 38.0 g/t au over 3.0 metres in hole TA17-085;
- 59.0 g/t over 0.6 metres in hole TA17-041;
- 72.8 g/t gold over 1.3 metres and 8.7 g/t over 1.7 metres in hole TA17-044;
- 5.1 g/t gold over 4.4 metres and 12.5 g/t over 1.3 metres in hole TA17-052;
- 4.4 g/t gold over 6.2 metres in hole TA17-038; and
- 5.1 g/t gold over 3.4 metres in hole TA17-042.
Underground drilling was equally impressive:
- 102.2 g/t gold over 0.5 metres and 2.7 g/t over 5.8 metres in hole T70-003 west of the Shaft deposit; and
- 4.3 g/t gold over 2.1 metres and 3.1 g/t over 6.1 metres in hole T90-113 along strike east of the West Porphyry deposit.
Kirkland Lake says results such as these outline the potential that exists for new deposits east of the Taylor mine along the Porcupine-Destor Fault.
