ONTARIO – Toronto-based Wesdome Gold Mines has decided to begin development of the 300E zone at its Eagle River gold mine near Wawa. To date, diamond drilling has traced the structure from 750 to 1,000 metres below surface, and it remains open in both directions. Some highlights: 29.67 g/t gold over 8.15 metres, 10.29 g/t over 2.58 metres, 31.88 g/t over 1.99 metres, 15.87 g/t over 2.65 metres, 13.36 g/t over 2.07 metres, and 5.97 g/t over 1.50 metres. All grades were cut to 140 g/t gold. The 300 zone is located 300 to 400 metres north of the main 8 zone structure that has provided most of the mine’s ore for the last 20 years. The 300E area consists of tabular to pipe-like quartz vein systems with strong folding. There is also a 300W area typified by a steeply dipping, tabular shear hosted quartz vein. Production from the 30E zone should start by the end of this year. Visit www.Wesdome.com for updates.
