NUNAVUT – Toronto-based
TMAC Resources has declared commercial production at the Doris gold mine and mill at the Hope Bay project in the Kitikmeot region. The mill has operated at more than 60% of its 1,000-t/d capacity for a 45-day period and at more than 80% from May 4 to 15.
Catharine Farrow, CEO of TMAC Resources, stated, “[Commercial production] is a great step toward achieving steady state operations at our Doris mine and mill complex, which is the first step in our plans to funding the development of the Madrid and Boston deposits. TMAC will continue to optimize mill operations to reach the nameplate capacity, ore deliveries from underground will increase to match throughput.
The Hope Bay project has proven and probable reserves of 14.2 million tonnes grading 7.7 g/t gold and containing 3.5 million oz. of gold. Measured and indicated resources (including reserves) are 15.2 million tonnes at 9.2 g/t gold and containing 4.5 million oz. There is also a 6.0-million-tonne inferred resource at 7.4 g/t gold and containing 1.4 million oz.
