OTTAWA – The Rio Tinto awards for indigenous students were presented earlier this week to First Nations, Inuit and Metis students across Canada. Particular attention is given to those pursuing post-secondary education and training from communities where Rio Tinto operates. The $2-million, five-year program is made possible by a partnership of Rio Tinto, Indspire and the Canadian government. Support has been provided for 1,300 students. Indspire (www.Indspire.ca) is an indigenous-led charity that invests in the education of indigenous people for the long term benefit of them, their families and communities, and Canada.
