BRITISH COLUMBIA –
Barkerville Gold Mines of Toronto has intersected 24.70 g/t over 6.60 metres at depth on Island Mountain at its Cariboo gold project near Wells. The results indicate new veining corridors in the Shaft zone, said the company.
Deep veining occurrences have now been established by phase two hole IM-17-044 which intersected two vein sets grading 21.23 g/t gold over 5.05 metres and 24.70 g/t Au over 6.60 metres respectively, at a vertical depth of 400 metres below surface. To date, this hole represents the deepest occurrence of auriferous veining drilled by Barkerville at Island Mountain, and the system is open in all directions.
Phase one hole, BGM-16-537 located 80 metres up-dip, intersected 9.22 g/t gold over 1.50 metres and 10.83 g/t over 2.65 metres and is the nearest hole within a 100 metre radius of the new intersections.
Barkerville has seven rigs operating at Island Mountain and an eighth active below the former Arum and Cariboo Gold Quartz mines. Neither of these targets has been explored since operations ended almost 50 years ago. The phase two drill program will be at least 130,000 metres.
