QUEBEC –
Azimut Exploration, headquartered in the Montreal suburb of Longueuil, is planning a ground-based gravity survey of the high grade chromite zone on its Eastmain West property in the James Bay region. The company hopes to better define the lateral and depth potential of the 1,000-metre zone.

Recent channel samples from the chromite zone assayed 17.21% chromium oxide over 7.54 metres including 33.2% over 3.55 metres.
The gravity survey will be carried out over the central parts of a 4-km-long prospective horizon within a mafic-ultramafic intrusion displaying a strong magnetic and electromagnetic signature, according to Azimut. The Dominic and Sledgehammer chromite prospects of are of particular interest. Gravity surveys have been used successfully to delineate chromite deposits in Ontario’s Ring of Fire.
Azimut says the geophysical survey will also assess the property’s potential for nickel-copper-PGM massive sulphides that it believes may be present is this geological setting. The next sampling program will consist of stripping and diamond drilling.
Azimut also has 15 gold properties in the James Bay region. Four of the properties are subject to active partnerships by four companies. Four other Azimut properties form part of a regional strategic alliance with
