ZINC-LEAD: Trevali to take over mining at Caribou

NEW BRUNSWICK – Vancouver-based Trevali Mining Corp. plans to take over mining operations at its Caribou zinc-lead mine 50 km west of Bathurst. To expedite the transition, the company is purchasing a new underground mining fleet. [caption id="attachment_1003717015" align="alignleft" width="300"] The Caribou mine and mill are located in the Bathurst camp.[/caption] Trevali will make a $20-million investment through a new partnership with Sandvik Mining to supply and maintain the fleet. On order are a pair of two-boom DD 321 jumbos, five LH 514 load-haul-dumpers, seven 40-tonne TH 540 haul trucks, a DL 421 long hole production drill, and a DS 421 cable bolter/backup long hole drill. Additional equipment being sourced also includes a grader, new underground light vehicle fleet, and a combination of new and used underground ancillary equipment.
