NUNAVUT – Toronto-based
TMAC Resources says that Dr. Caroline Bennett, Minister for Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, has accepted the recommendation of the Nunavut Impact Review Board that the Doris North gold project be allowed to proceed with the proposed amendments.
This clears the way for the NIRB to finalize the amended project certificate. It also allows the Nunavut Water Board to proceed with consideration of an amended water license, said TMAC in a release. The public hearing on the new water license for the project is scheduled for mid-September.
The Doris North deposit is one of several on TMAC’s Hope Bay property 65 km east of Bathurst Inlet, in the Kitikmeot region. Total proven and probable reserves are 14.2 million tonnes grading 7.7 g/t Au and containing more than 3.5 million oz of gold. Total life of mine capital needs are estimated to be $641 million.
