BURKINA FASO –
True Gold Mining of Vancouver announced that it achieved the first gold production from its Karma gold mine on April 11, 2016. This is an open pit heap leach operation 185 km northwest of Ouagadougou. The leach pad was first irrigated on March 8.
The Karma mine includes six deposits – Goulagou II and II, Rambo, Kao, North Kao and Nami – with total probable reserves of 33.2 million tonnes grading 0.89 g/t Au and containing 949,000 oz of gold. The majority of the reserves, 22.4 million tonnes, consist of oxide ore. Mining has begun in the Goulagou I and Rambo pits. The average annual output target is 97,000 oz of gold at direct cash operating costs of US$550/oz.
