BRITISH COLUMBIA –
Thompson Creek Metals of Denver said that mill throughput averaged 52,457 t/d during November at the Mount Milligan copper-gold project 145 km northwest of Prince George. That is a significant increase from the 44,077 t/d average during Q3 2015.
The upturn comes thanks to the installation of a second SAG discharge screen deck in late October. Further increases are expected as the SAG mill liners wear in and operating conditions are optimized.
Thompson Creek said the Mount Milligan mine set a daily record of 156,476 tonnes of ore and waste moved on Nov. 25. Production at the open pit mine began in September 2013 at a nominal rate of 60,000 tonnes of ore daily.

The objective is not spraying water on the screen, it is to dilute the feed to the screen. An alternative to trying to spray on water is to install a simple measured ‘water blade/fall’ at the front of the screen deck. This water addition point would replace most of the ball mill cyclone feed water.
The Polydeck Screen Corporation offers a very effective and detailed screen desk integrity analysis via Mike Garrison. This analysis would help improve the structural integrity on the large vibrating deck. Sam Durnavich from Polydeck can organize a visit by Mr. Garrison. Within Polydeck is another great application specialist named Steve Parsons.
