GOLD: Detour Gold pours one millionth oz at Detour Lake

ONTARIO – Detour Gold Corp. of Toronto has poured its one millionth ounce of gold at the Detour Lake mine 185 m northeast of Cochrane. The first gold bar was poured less than three years ago, on Feb. 18, 2013, at the $1.45-billion project.

The milestone was marked by a visit to the mine site by Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle, local mayors and aboriginal leaders.

Paul Martin, Detour Gold's president and CEO, said, "We're pleased to celebrate this significant achievement in just over two and a half years with our employees, contractors and aboriginal partners. Our goal is to ensure that our next millionth ounce of gold is produced with improved operational excellence, strong environmental stewardship and a leading safety culture."

In 2014, the Detour Lake mine produced 456,634 oz of gold, and it has resources sufficient for another 21 years of life.
