QUEBEC – Toronto-based Royal Nickel Corp. is moving slowly toward production at its Dumont nickel project 25 km west of Amos. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Duro Felguera and Ausenco Canada for their partnership (DF-Ausenco) to complete an engineering, procurement and construction lump sum turnkey proposal for the project.
Royal Nickel has agree to award the EPC contract to DF-Ausenco, provided the costs is less than C$911 million and a Dec. 15, 2015, deadline is met. The EPC proposal covers 72% of the pre-production capital cost; total cost of the project is estimated at US$1.07 billion (with an US:Cda exchange rage of $0.80).
The Canadian government announced a positive environmental assessment decision for Dumont at the end of July 2015.
