MINING PEOPLE: Discovery Ventures, Hatch, Noront, Pangolin, and True Gold

Vancouver-based Discovery Ventures has asked Dan Omeniuk to be its CEO, chairman and a director of the company. He is the founder of Trappers Transport, developing it into an industry leader over the last 30 years.

Hon. John Baird has been appointed global strategic advisor to Hatch, the Toronto-based consulting and engineering firm. Baird is the former federal minister of foreign affairs. He also sits on the international advisory board of Barrick Gold.

Noront Resources of Toronto has named Steve Flewelling senior VP, mining and projects. A former employee of Glencore Xstrata and Falconbridge, he holds an honours degree in mining engineering from Queen's University.

The new president and CEO of Toronto's Pangolin Diamonds Corp. is Dr. Leon Daniels, who succeeds Rick Bonner. Daniels is also the company's chairman and president.

Maryse Belanger has joined the board of True Gold Mining in Vancouver. She is also CEO and managing director of Mirabela Nickel. She is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
