ONTARIO – Richmont Mines of Montreal reports that the latest deep exploration drill program successfully extended the known mineralization at its Island Gold mine to 1,200 metres. The program targeted the down plunge projection of the deposit to the east.
Many of the grades encountered were promising. Highlights include 19.87 g/t Au over 3.93 metres at a vertical depth of 1,203 metres and 7.44 g/t over 8.49 metres at a vertical depth of 858 metres. These cores came from the C zone.
Richmont also announced its $7.6-million exploration program for 2015 includes 61,000 metres of drilling, 41,000 metres of which will be done from underground. The eastern extension potential of the deposit between 500 and 1,000 metres will be drilled in the first half of the year. Drilling will move underground on the 620 level in the second half of the year.
