MELBOURNE, Australia – Reed Exhibitions Australia, the Australian subsidiary of the world’s leading event organizer, has today announced a major new conference and exhibition for the workplace health and safety sector. The Safety First Conference and Exposition will be held over four days at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 26-29, 2015, and will attract a highly targeted audience of workplace health and safety (WHS) professionals from across relevant industry sectors including manufacturing, construction, mining, agriculture, transport and logistics, healthcare, education and public administration.
Exhibitors at Safety First will also benefit from the strategic co-location with the two largest manufacturing exhibitions in Australia – National Manufacturing Week and Austech – as well as the SMART Supply Chain and Logistics Conference. The last Melbourne edition of NMW and Austech, in May 2013, attracted 10,258 industry professionals, of whom 66% had direct authority or influence for purchasing the types of products or services on display.
This will be Australia's complete safety event featuring a dedicated B2B exhibition showcasing the latest technologies, products and services to improve WHS standards and compliance and reduce safety expenditure. The primary sectors to be represented will include: personal protective equipment, machine safety, fire and life safety, hygiene and cleaning, workplace health and wellness, information and communications technologies (ITC) for safety, electrical safety, safety services, and general safety.
Integrated into the exhibition will be the free-to-attend, industry leading Safety First conference. High level speakers will deliver essential information for business owners and managers wanting to protect their business from risk, and their people from workplace safety hazards. Delegates will take away practical solutions and learn from industry leaders on best practice, legislation and financial liability.
According to Anthony Reed, exhibition director of Reed Exhibitions Australia, “The launch of Safety First follows extensive industry research and consultation amongst WHS suppliers, buyers and end users, which clearly demonstrated the need for a premium quality, national safety conference and exhibition.
"Our research confirmed that Australia’s safety industry generates an estimated $1.74 billion in revenue annually from the manufacturing sector alone and that, with some 1.8% of workers being injured each year, manufacturing has a higher rate of injury than all other industries in Australia. Having established the need for a new safety conference and exhibition, it therefore made absolute sense for us to co-locate the inaugural Safety First alongside National Manufacturing Week, Austech and SMART in Melbourne next May."
The Safety First conference and expo will deliver a complete visitor and exhibitor experience through superior, free-of-charge educational content, one-to-one meetings and other match-making services bringing together buyers and suppliers, and access to networking opportunities at NMW and Austech.
"Interest in Safety First is high and we expect strong demand," said Reed. "We encourage companies and individuals interested in participation at Safety First, whether as an event partner, exhibitor, sponsor, trade visitor, conference delegate or speaker, to contact us as soon as possible to get on board and take advantage of this exciting opportunity to boost your company’s WHS knowledge, capability and business connections.”
