KYRGYZ REPUBLIC – Centerra Gold of Toronto in finally in receipt of the 2014 Kumtor mine plan approvals from the relevant government agencies.
Last week it appeared the company might have to shut down operations as the permits were delayed repeatedly. The company can now confirm no shutdown will take place.
Kumtor is one of the largest gold mines in Central Asia. It produced more than 600,400 oz of gold in 2013, a 90% increase over a year earlier. The increase was made possible by the mining of higher grades and better gold recovery numbers.
