LITHIUM: One-thousand-hour test confirms 99.99% LiOH grade

QUEBEC – Nemaska Lithium of Quebec City says the 1,000-hour test of its patent pending electrolysis process produced a 99.99% LiOH (lithium hydroxide). The test was run on lithium sulphate from the company's Whabouchi lithium deposit in the James Bay region 300 km northwest of Chibougamau. The purity exceeds the needs of lithium ion battery makers.

The test involved a commercial configuration common in the in the sodium chloride industry, since lithium reacts chemically in a similar fashion as sodium.

Nemaska president and CEO Guy Bourassa aims to make the company a low cost producer of lithium hydroxide. The Whabouchi feasibility study will be released by the end of the month.
