MALI – African Gold Group of Toronto says that artisanal minerals at its Kobada gold project have discovered a single nugget weight 1.0 kg. The nugget was discovered in the Zone 1 deposit. This is the second large nugget recovered.

In February 2008, a 2.7-kg nugget was unearthed (see photo). The location of the 2.7-kg nuggets is a considerable distance from work done by African Gold.

Both nuggets are described as being "local." That indicates the nuggets have not travelled very far from their points of origin. One theory is that they weathered out of a quartz carbonate vein.

African Gold acquired three gold concessions in Mali in 2005. It believes that the Kobada Trend has multi-million ounce potential. Infill drilling in Zone 1 has returned 81 metres of 1.21 g/t Au including 18 metres of 2.26 g/t and 48 metres of 2.95 g/t Au including 19.20 metres of 5.91 g/t Au.
