MONTREAL – Canadian engineering company Genivar has changed its name to WSP Global Inc. to reflect its worldwide operations. Genivar shareholders have received one WSP Global share for each Genivar share held.
Genivar bought WSP Group, a British company, about 18 months ago for $442 million, giving Genivar a global reach.
The firm provides services to transform the built environment and restore the natural environment. It expertise ranges from environmental remediation to urban planning, from engineering iconic buildings to designing sustainable transport networks, and from developing the energy sources of the future to enabling new ways of extracting essential resources.
“As we now operate across the world, the decision to rebrand our Canadian operations to WSP came as an obvious one. It will enable us to leverage this highly recognized brand worldwide,” said Pierre Shoiry, WSP’s president and chief executive.
