Kaminak Gold

Kaminak Gold Corporation completed a 48,000 m drilling program for 2011 on the 100% owned Coffee Gold Project, Yukon Territory. The core focus of the exploration program was to expand the high-grade gold zones (Supremo, Latte, Double Double and Kona) discovered in 2010, and identify new drill targets via soil sampling.

Even though assays results are still pending, the program was successful on all fronts. Here are some of the key results from last year.

The strike length for the Latte zone was expanded from 600 m to >1550 m (reaching 450 m vertical below surface) and the T3 structure at Supremo was extended to >600 m (down to at least 175m vertical). Drill highlights include 9.61 g/t Au over 17 m and 2.11 g/t Au over 59 m (Latte Zone), 74.9 g/t Au over 4 m (Double Double Zone), 8.23 g/t Au over 18.3 m (Supremo Zone) and 5.16 g/t Au over 10.67 m (Kona Zone).

Several kilometer-scale gold-in-soil trends were identified in the newly recognized “Sugar” area, located 20 km southeast of Supremo-Latte drill discoveries, including “Sugar North” (minimum 1 km long) and “Sugar South” (minimum 2 km long).

The geological setting and geochemical pathfinders suggest mineralized trends at Sugar are typical “Coffee-style” structurally controlled occurrences. In addition, widely spaced ridge line samples within previously un-sampled portions of the Coffee property yielded results as high as 3,086 ppb Au.

No previous drilling has been completed on the Sugar prospects in the past, but in 2012, Sugar will be a key component of the drill program.

The success of the program prompted Kaminak to improve the accessibility and infrastructure of the Coffee property. Late in the season, the company completed the construction of a 900 m airstrip and a 23 km gravel road linking the Coffee Camp and airstrip to the main drill areas of Latte, Connector, Double Double and Supremo Zones.

Three bulk fuel tanks with 75,000 liter capacity each have also been mobilized on site. These improvements will lower Kaminak’s operational costs and extend the drilling season. Drilling in 2012 is expected to begin in the First Quarter.
