TORONTO - Norton Rose, one of this country's leading practitioners of international business law has released the latest edition of its newsletter, "Unearthed." It is among the most clearly written and practical sources for mining executives who must keep track of all aspects of business law.
The November edition includes upcoming events, a recap of recent deals, a profile of Anthony Latimer and a section of legal updates and articles. Unfortunately the upcoming events have passed, being dated September 2011. The editors can do better next time. Otherwise the newsletter is worthwhile read.
The recent deals include advice to a Russian coal miner making its initial public offering, counsel to Timmins Gold on the exchange of $63 million in special warrants, and advice to bankers regarding financings for mining companies.
Even if the reader has little interest in the legal necessities of mining, he or she will want to catch updates such as the appeal overturning the decision in Smith v Inco, details of how Quebec's Plan Nord will be implemented, environmental case law, the right to natural resources in the Arctic, and several international stories.
