ONTARIO - Ottawa-based PC Gold is pleased with the assays from the newly discovered shallow gold system at Central Pat East (CPE), part of the formerly producing Pickle Crow property about 400 km northwest of Thunder Bay. The company says the deposit has an established pattern of very broad, low grade intercepts encompassing higher grade shoots.
Hole PC-11-145 returned assays of 0.78 g/t Au over 254 metres including 0.88 g/t over 214 metres, 1.00 g/t over 106 metres and 1.05 g/t over 76 metres. The best assays from the same hole were 7.67 g/t Au over 6 metres, including 8.94 g/t over 5 metres, 9.95 g/t over 4 metres and 13.60 g/t over 2 metres. The mineralization was intersected from 216 to 470 metres below the surface.
The core area of the CPE where the bulk of the PC Gold's drilling has been done, is emerging as a roughly columnar-shaped, near vertical body, with dimensions in plan view measuring approximately 100 X 100 metres. This body is interpreted to be a complexly folded package of banded iron formation (BIF), tuffs and argillites cut by lamprophyre dykes, and it remains open at depth. The company says that the CPE-style of mineralization (disseminated to semi-massive arsenopyrite with associated quartz veining and flooding) is present well outside the core area of the discovery, encompassing a broad swath of the property now spanning some 4 km in a southwest-northeast direction.
