MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Century Mining, Selwyn and Wesdome

Century Mining Corp., of Blaine, WA, has named Daniel Major its new president, CEO and director. He brings close to 25 years of international mining experience - including mine development planning, project development, operations management, commercial negotiations, project and debt financing, and mergers and acquisitions - to the post. He was recently COO of Ecometals Ltd.

Vancouver-based Selwyn Resources has added Joe Ringwald to its team as VP mining. A graduate of the University of British Columbia, he will oversee the Selwyn zinc-lead project in the Yukon.

Andre Roy, will be the new VP operations at Toronto's Wesdome Gold Mines, effective Jan. 10, 2011. He has 30 years' experience in both operations and consulting. Roy holds a BEng and MASc in mining engineering from Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal and an MBA from Concordia University.
