The experienced investor might digest every scrap of information available and make a reasoned judgement. Or the wizardly gold bug may even have a secret set of events that guide his investment. Last week we asked readers to tell us whether shareholder returns should be the only consideration in hostile takeovers or whether national pride, local ownership and other intangibles should be considered. No surprise, almost 80% indicated that considerations beyond money are important in mergers.
