BRITISH COLUMBIA - Vancouver-based Sona Resources recently released a new 43-101-compliant inferred resource figure of 298,389 tonnes grading 1.47 g/t Au for the impounded tailings at the former Blackdome mine and mill 100 km south of Williams Lake. The Blackdome property has additional indicated resources of 144,500 tonnes grading 11.29 g/t Au and inferred resources of 90,600 tonnes grading 8.78 g/t. The nearby Elizabeth property has an inferred resource of 523,000 tonnes grading 12.26 g/t Au.
Preliminary economic assessments of the two properties is now underway. Sona would like to restart the fully permitted 200 t/d Blackdome mill by 2013 at a projected output of 30,000 oz of gold annually. A preproduction capital expenditure of $25 million is anticipated.
The Blackdome mine was a producer from 1986 to 1991. It is credited with 225,000 oz of gold and 547,000 oz of silver during those five years.
