ONTARIO — Lake Shore Gold is making plans to accelerate the advanced exploration program at the Thunder Creek gold property adjacent to the company's Timmins mine near the town of the same name.
Work has begun on the 650 level near the Timmins shaft with diamond drilling, chip and muck sampling of the development faces. Results are ongoing but suggest that the overall trend for grades and widths of the mineralization in this area is similar to those predicted by the resource model, says the company.
Diamond drilling at Thunder Creek recently returned 12.17 g/t Au over 9.00 metres. Based on results of hole TC09-73, gold mineralization of the main porphyry structure has been extended to a 1,125 metres vertical depth.
Thunder Creek had been a 60:40 joint venture of Lake Shore and West Timmins Mining until the former took over the latter company in November 2009. Please visit www.LSGold.com.
