ONTARIO — Liberty Mines of Edmonton is restarting production at its Redstone nickel mine near Timmins. The mine was placed on care-and-maintenance at the end of October 2008. Mining at that time was by shrinkage at a daily rate of 200 tonnes. Other mining methods are under investigation so that the production rate can be safely increased and costs can be reduced.
The adjacent Redstone mill can treat between 1,500 and 2,000 t/d. A description of the flowsheet is available at www.LibertyMines.com.
