Michel Lemay has joined Amex Exploration of Laval, Que., as a director and COO of the company.

Calgary-based Anglo Minerals has named Corey Giasson its vice-president of business development and investor relations. He was previously manager of market research at Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan.

John Roberts has joined Vancouver’s Aurora Energy Resources as vice-president environment.

Baffinland Iron Mines of Toronto has expanded the team developing its Mary River iron ore project. The new faces are Derek Chubb (vice-president of sustainable development), Sonya Stark (corporate secretary), Al Gorman (operations manager), Dave McCann (assistant operations manager) and Sean Maloney (business development officer).

Blue Note Mining of Montreal has separated the roles of chairman and CEO. Michael Judson who previously held both titles will now be president and CEO. Former president John Martin assumes the new role of COO, and Peter Watson, a director, has been named chairman.

Canadian Arrow Mines of Sudbury, Ont., has reorganized its management team beginning with new president Kim Tyler (former chief geologist at the Frood Stobie mine complex). Dean MacEachern has moved into the role of CEO, and Todd Keast is now vice-president of exploration. David Larche has resigned from the positions of president and CEO.

Toronto-based Crystallex International Corp. has appointed William A. Faust as COO and senior vice-president. He will direct the company’s mining operations in Venezuela, including the development, construction and operation of the Las Cristinas gold project.

Dean H. Taylor is the new president and COO of Diamcor Mining, based in Kelowna, B.C.

Yellowknife, N.W.T.-based Arctic Energy Alliance has awarded Nick Strus of Diavik its 2006 Energy Efficiency Award. A maintenance planner at the diamond mine, Strus received the award for his work to reduce haul truck idling times and thus realize fuel savings.

Vancouver-based East Asia Minerals has changed its management structure to facilitate growth, especially advancing its Mongolian uranium assets. Former vice-president of exploration Michael Hawkins is now president and a director. Lyndon Bradish has stepped down from the positions of president, CEO and a director. Darren Pylot has agreed to serve as interim CEO of the company, and current chairman Jason Howe has been appointed corporate secretary.

First Nickel has named Gerry Bilodeau as general manager of its Sudbury, Ont., operations. He credentials include manager of the Kidd Mine D project and project superintendent during development of the Raglan mine.

Rick Koumouris has been named senior vice-president and general manager of Fluor Corp.’s Mining & Metals business line.

Vancouver-headquartered Forum Uranium has appointed Ken Wheatley its vice-president exploration. His background includes extensive exploration in the Thelon Basin for Areva Resources Canada.

The board of directors of Halifax, N.S.-based Gammon Lake Resources has appointed Russell Barwick as CEO and a director. Barwick recently completed a four-year tenure as executive vice-president and COO of Wheaton River Minerals-Goldcorp.

Kevin Greenwood has been appointed to the position of vice-president mining systems Americas at Leica Geosystems’s new mining office in Denver, Colo.

Toronto-based Glencairn Gold Corp. has appointed Bruce Humphrey as an independent director. Most recently, Humphrey was president and CEO of Desert Sun Mining, which successfully developed the Jacobina mine complex in Brazil.

Los Andes Copper of Vancouver has appointed Dr. Roger Moss as president and a director of the company. Los Andes has an interest in the Vizcachitas copper-moly property in Region V, Chile.

Maptek North America has named John Larson its new vice-president and general manager for Canada and the United States.

Dr. David Mchaina has become the director of environment and sustainable development at Nuinsco Resources of Toronto.

Petaquilla Minerals of Vancouver has welcomed Richard Fifer as its president and CEO.

Toronto’s Ursa Major Minerals has named Bruce Mackie its vice-president of exploration and corporate development. He comes to the post from a position at North American Palladium.

Paul Cregheur is retiring as president of Toronto’s Wesdome Gold Mines, effective May 1, 2007.
