Bulk mining potential at Bachelor Lake
The 13,346-m underground drilling program at Bachelor Lake in Desmaraisville, northwest Quebec, has delivered handsome gold grades in three veins. Vancouver-based Halo Resources has an option to earn a 50% interest in the property, which is owned by Metanor Resources of Sullivan, Que.
Drilling from April through July from two drill stations on Level 12 resulted in a series of significant assay results from both lateral and deep extensions (below Level 12) of the Main, A and B zones. Results, which can be viewed at www.metanor.ca, include 17.77 g/tonne Au (uncut) over a 3.25 m width (not true width) in the A zone (hole 12-59).
Drilling has led to a new geologic interpretation. There is a significant increase in both gold values and mineralized thickness, especially where the B zone is intersected by the crosscutting A zone. These zones of structural dilatency and corresponding elevated gold mineralization may positively impact the project economics, suggesting the potential for high-productivity, lower-cost mining methods.
Main zone continuity has been extended substantially over a total strike length of 450 m from Bachelor Lake to the East zone onto the Hewfran property, recently acquired by Metanor.
