BPR-Bechtel strengthens expertise with Timmins acquisition
BPR-Bechtel has acquired the Timmins, Ont., assets of AMEC. The transaction follows on the heels of mining giant Noranda-Falconbridge transferring its site-engineering services business at its Timmins copper-zinc mines to BPR-Bechtel in June 2004. The asset purchase provides BPR-Bechtel with 35 additional plant engineering service experts in electrical and instrumentation, mechanical and structural engineering.
Over the past two years, BPR-Bechtel’s employee base has increased from the original 325 in 2002 to more than 700 in 2004. With its head office in Montreal, BPR-Bechtel serves clients around the world. It is co-owned by Bechtel and BPR, a Quebec-based engineering firm.
