DRC Resources has named Chris Bradbrook as president, CEO and director. His 25-year career has covered many aspects of the mineral industry from exploration and development to investor relations and marketing. Most recently he was VP of corporate development at Goldcorp.

Thomas Pugsley, recently retired from Falconbridge, and Lyle R. Hepburn, a partner at Beach, Hepburn LLP, have joined the board of Toronto-based First Nickel. Pugsley is well-known in the mining community for his contributions to the Raglan copper mine in Quebec, the Collahuasi copper mine in Chile, and the Koniambo ferronickel project in New Caledonia. Hepburn is also the corporate secretary of Aber Diamond Corp.

Walter Segsworth has joined the board of Northern Dynasty Minerals. He is a well-known member of the international mining industry having been most recently president and COO of Homestake Mining until Barrick took it over. Before that he was president and CEO of Westmin Resources. He has also worked for Noranda as manager of the Central Canada Potash operation, the Golden Giant mine and the Bell copper mine. Segsworth is past-chairman of the Mining Association of Canada and British Columbia. In 1996 he was voted British Columbia Mining Industry Person of the Year. He is also a member of the CIM.

Placer Dome has named Peter Tomsett its new president and

CEO, succeeding Jay Taylor who has retired after 32 years with the company. Tomsett has been with Placer Dome for 18 years, most recently as executive VP for Asia and Africa. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales and attained a Master of Science (Distinction) in Mineral Production Management from Imperial College London.
