Richard Arcand has replaced Raymond Savoie as president of Arca Explorations of Montreal.
Vancouver-based Commander Resources announced that Kenneth Leigh is joining the company as president and director beginning Feb. 9, and William J. Coulter, currently president, will become chairman and CEO.
Eduardo (Ed) Baer, president of European Goldfields, is now also its CEO. Louis Montpellier has resigned from the board of the company.
International Lima Resources of Vancouver has named Mark T. Brown as CFO. He was most recently president of Pacific Opportunity Co. and has considerable experience in the North American venture capital markets. Effective March 1, International Lima Resources will be changing its name to Crosshair Exploration & Mining Corp.
Larry Seeley, the driving force and catalyst in the transformation of Lakefield Research into the largest commercial metallurgical testing, research and development organization in the world, was presented with the Engineering Medal for Entrepreneurship at the annual Ontario Professional Engineers awards gala in November.
Navigator Exploration of Vancouver has appointed John Proust as VP corporate development and a director. He was previously president of Canada Talc Ltd.
Vancouver-based Northgate Resources has welcomed Klaus Konigsmann to its board of directors. Konigsmann is currently president of KVK Consulting, which specializes in mineral processing design and development. Prior to this, he had a long and distinguished career with Noranda as VP engineering.
SouthernEra Resources of Toronto has named Alasdair MacPhee as executive VP for Africa. The move is a promotion from his previous position as senior VP and chief development officer. MacPhee will be responsible for SouthernEra’s operating, business development and exploration activities in Africa. Mike Eksteen will continue to serve as a non-executive director following his retirement from the position of senior VP and COO.
Courtney Pratt is officially the president and CEO of Hamilton-based Stelco; his appointment was announced last November to take effect at the beginning of this year. Also effective Jan. 1 were the appointment of Jean Menard as VP of sales, marketing and transportation and Geoff Inniss, general manager of North American and international sales for STELCO-Mcmaster of Contrecoeur, Que.
Vancouver’s Superior Diamonds has named Dr. Thomas F. Morris as VP exploration. He had been the company’s senior project manager for the last 16 months.
