Raymor Industries sells properties, negotiates deal with CANMET

SAINTE-FOY, QUE.–Raymor Industries Inc. has concluded an agreement for the sale of the Beacon 1 & 2 property located in Val-d’Or. The transaction, whose amount was not disclosed, included a special clause that provides CANMET, a Canadian government corporation, with continued access to the property for its ongoing operations.

Given the lack of progress at the company’s Val-d’Or pilot plant project in 2001-2002, Raymor announced, last December 5, the transfer of its grant application from the Val d’Or office of Canada Economic Development (CED) to CED’s Montreal office. The grant will be used to establish both the pilot plant and commercial production plant in the Montreal area.

Raymor Industries has stated that all the information required for the grant application initiated in 2001 has been completed and was submitted to CED in May 2003. The company expects the application process to proceed very quickly.

Engineering work on the vacuum purifier, which will be used to recycle and produce very high-purity lithium metal, is scheduled for completion in July 2003. Additional information on the purifier’s potential will be provided once the final engineering reports have been completed. This major piece of equipment, to be installed in the pilot and commercial production plants, will be the only one of its kind in the world.
