QUEBEC OSISKO MINING of Montreal has updated the 43-101-compliant resource estimate for its 100%-owned Canadian Malartic gold deposit, located in the Abitibi region. Based on a cutoff grade of 0.36 g/t Au, MICON INTERNATIONAL estimated a measured and indicated resource of 7.69 million oz of contained gold with an additional 720,000 oz in the inferred category.
Looked at another way, there are 212.9 million tonnes grading 1.09 g/t Au in the measured and indicated categories, plus 37.4 million tonnes at 0.60 g/t Au in the inferred category. Production is planned initially from the Whittle pit.
The definitive feasibility study for the Canadian Malartic project is expected by the end of 2008. The company tabled the environmental impact statement for the project earlier this month.
