NEWFOUNDLAND Toronto-based ANACONDA MINING poured its first gold dor bars at its Pine Cove mine near Baie Verte on July 16, 2008. The three bars have a cumulative weight of 140.03 oz. The mill is nearing its designed throughput, and there is sufficient broken and stockpiled ore to keep the operation working smoothly.
Pine Cove is designed to mine and treat 500 tonnes of ore daily to produce 16,000 oz of gold annually. Reserves are 2.3 million tonnes averaging 2.8 g/t Au. There is also a small amount (67,000 tonnes at 2.4 g/t) of inferred resources.
