BRITISH COLUMBIA - The longest mineralized intersection from the Ajax joint venture near Kamloops was 356.1 metres, which assayed 0.37% Cu and 0.22 g/t Au. The news comes from ABACUS MINING & EXPLORATION of Vancouver. Abacus is earning a 60% interest in the project, and its partner is NEW GOLD, also of Vancouver.
Abacus is drilling two separate areas of the joint-venture property. One is immediately east of the Ajax West pit and the other is south of the Ajax East pit. Other selected holes returned 0.35% Cu and 0.22 g/t Au over 143.0 metres; 0.36% Cu and 0.18 g/t Au over 154.0 metres; 0.49% Cu and 0.33 g/t Au over 117.0 metres; and 0.41% Cu and 0.18 g/t Au over 144.5 metres. The results fit the planned development of the Ajax area, according to Abacus.
During Q2 2008, the partners have ambitious plans. The NI-43-101 resource estimate for Ajax West, Ajax East and the area in between will be completed. They will conduct an infill drilling program as part of a feasibility study for a 40,000 to 50,000 t/d open pit operation. And they will pursue financing alternatives for development.
A drill plan map showing the location of these holes will be posted on the Abacus website at www.AMEMining.com shortly.
