RUBY PROCESSING – True North commissions plant in Greenland

GREENLAND - TRUE NORTH GEMS of Vancouver has installed and commissioned the upgraded gravity processing plant in the village of Fiskenaesset on the southwest coast. The new processing plant is comprised of a large capacity jaw for two-stage primary crushing of nominal minus-30 cm feed, jaw and roll for secondary and tertiary crushing, two double-deck washing and sizing screens, and two Denver duplex mineral jigs, which concentrate the ruby and pink sapphire by gravity separation.

The new plant was commissioned with 5.0 tonnes of process tailings from the 2006 Aappaluttoq bulk sample. So far this year, the plant has recovered 63.8 kg of concentrate, noted the company. Since then, True North has commenced processing of its outstanding 2006 Kigutilik 30-tonne bulk sample. Primary crushing, wet screening, and hand selection of +10-mm coarse ruby followed by secondary roll crushing are complete. Gravity separation to produce concentrate is in progress.
