NEW BRUNSWICK GEODEX MINERALS of Vancouver has finished a nine-hole drill program at its Mount Pleasant West project, 3 km west of the former Mount Pleasant mine. Assays of core from the Pughole-Whopper zone had good indium values, including 128.64 g/t In and 3.45% Zn over 10.23 m.
Geodex has a $2-million budget for the Mount Pleasant West property this year. Three-quarters of it is earmarked for a 10,000-m drill program.
The price of indium has jumped from US$70/kg in 2001 to over US$1,000/kg now. Geodex says that the price is escalating as 75% of the indium in the world is used in the manufacture of LCD computer and television screens. Furthermore, that industry is expected to grow at over 30% over the next three years.
