ADANAC MOLYBDENUM of Vancouver has awarded contracts worth $39.2 million for the purchase of long-lead-time equipment for its Ruby Creek mine and mill near Atlin, B.C. Sandvik will supply secondary cone crushers and Humboldt Wedag the high-pressure grinding rolls. (www.AdanacMoly.com)

CROSS LAKE MINERALS of Vancouver continues work toward the reopening the QR gold mine 60 km southeast of Quesnel, B.C. Underground development of the North Zone and rehabilitation of the mill are proceeding, as is work to complete the power line to the site in July. (www.CrossLakeMinerals.com)

CVRD INCO of Toronto has given the green light to development of the Totten nickel-copper mine, reported Northern Ontario Business on May 9. Brazilian parent company Companhia Vale do Rio Doce has promised to spend $445 million on that and a feasibility study for the Copper Cliff Deep project, both located in the Sudbury Basin of Ontario.

GAMMON LAKE RESOURCES of Halifax has begun driving a major development ramp in preparation for mining an underground area at its Ocampo gold-silver project in Chihuahua, Mexico. This will be the third mine at the project. (www.GammonLake.com)

REDCORP VENTURES of Vancouver has begun building a 200-person construction camp near Atlin, B.C., for its Tulsequah gold-silver-copper-lead-zinc mine and mill. The underground development contract has been awarded to PROCON MINING & TUNNELING.
