NEWFOUNDLAND - Calgary-based UCORE URANIUM has released assays from chip samples collected from the Dome One showing at its Lost Pond project located about 50 km east of Stephenville. Values of 0.118% U3O8 over 5.0 m, 0.101% over 5.0 m and 0.084% over 2.0 m are reported.
The Dome One showing consists of a massive hematite-chlorite alteration and breccia zone more than 20 m wide. Within the alteration zone, uranium is concentrated in a 2- to 5-m wide fracture zone. Additional samples were taken from the higher grade area, and the best sample assayed 1.839% U3O8.
The Lost Pond property was examined by Shell Canada in the early 1980s. Ucore has also tested the Dome Two area and identified three additional priority targets for follow-up as it searches for the bedrock source of the hundreds of boulders found on the property.
